If you’ve just started searching to find a great place to retire, you might have wondered why so many people are choosing The Villages.
Here are a few reasons that my research has revealed:
- It is a beautiful place, with hundreds of acres of wide open green spaces, nature trails, preserves, tall trees and flowering plants.
- All areas are clean and well-maintained. The Villages makes sure that seasonal flowers and plants are refreshed at least once per quarter.
- Villagers are friendly people. They notice when you’ve lost your way and offer help. They welcome you as their neighbor. It’s easy to make friends in The Villages.
- It’s not just “free golf for life,” but there are so many ways to be active in sports or clubs. There is something for everyone and becoming bored is unlikely.
- Live entertainment happens nightly at each of 3 town squares.
- There are frequent events like arts & crafts festivals, strawberry & blueberry festivals, car shows and farmers’ markets in The Villages.
- Not only are Villagers friendly, but they are generally pretty positive and happy people.
- Neighbors watch out for each other from a health and safety perspective.
- There are a lot of animals/wildlife to watch while out being active or from your own lanai.
- Sunrises/Sunsets in The Villages are amazing.
- Everything within The Villages is accessible by golf cart.
- The weather is amazing, particularly from January through March, when the northern climates in the US are in the middle of winter.
- Crime is low in The Villages.
Opinions naturally vary, but these reasons are widely agreed upon. Most residents of The Villages will say that their biggest regret about moving there is that they did not do it sooner.
The bottom line: The Villages is a great place to retire if you want every day to feel like a vacation!
